Storage chest placement: what actually matters
The game files say a Zombie Supplier Station’s zombie fetches from any open chest in the same room, taking 2 seconds per pickup. There is no bonus for a chest on a particular side.
You may have seen the tip “put the output trunk directly north of the saw for 28% less delay”. It comes from one article based on the author’s own test, and we found nothing in the game data to back it. What does help is a short walk: keep chests close to the stations they feed. The Trunk radius overlay shades 2 tiles around each chest as a guide, and a station outside it gets a tip, not a warning.
Tool Racks must touch their workbench
Some recipes need a Tool Rack built touching a Woodworking Workbench or a Stonemason’s Workbench. Touching means sharing an edge; a corner doesn’t count. This is a game rule, so the planner treats a Tool Rack without a bench next to it as an error.
Walking lanes and reachability
Two stations that touch can leave a zombie with no free tile to stand on. Leave a 1-tile lane between workstations. This is planner advice; the game doesn’t state it as a rule. Every station and chest also needs a free tile that zombies can walk to from the Workyard Gate. The planner runs a pathfinding pass after every change. Use Obstacle markers for walls, rocks and trees that are already on your map.
Recipes, tech costs, power, quality values and spot counts come from the graveyardkeeper2.io datamine (game build of September 2026), cross-checked against other guides where we could. The game doesn't publish building footprints or room sizes, so tile sizes and positions on the grid are a schematic. A patch can change any of this, so check the in-game build menu before you spend rare materials.

FAQ
Does chest direction matter in the Graveyard Keeper 2 workyard?
Not according to the game data: a supplier zombie takes from any open chest in the same room, 2 seconds per pickup. Keep chests close to cut walking time; the "north of the saw, 28% faster" claim is unverified.
Why are some workbench recipes missing?
Several recipes need a Tool Rack built touching the Woodworking Workbench or the Stonemason’s Workbench. A rack one tile away does not count. Stone gravestones and fences need the Tool Rack on the Stonemason’s Workbench; marble crosses and fences need the Fine Tool Rack there instead.
